Two Making Up

Is it love or lust? When talking about love between a couple it can include many qualities, such as respect, affection, admiration, consideration and many more. On the other hand Lust is all about desire. Not to say there’s not lust in a loving relationship, there can be, but that is only one aspect of the relationship.

Love Relationship

Love exists in a relationship when both partners hold the other in high esteem and often place the happiness of their partner ahead of their own. Love affects the relationship in many ways including how they interact, the activities they participate in and the length of the relationship. The couple in love behaves thoughtfully towards each other and is considerate of their partner’s feelings. Each partner places themselves ahead of their partner and they treat each other with respect (ideally). In a loving relationship the things that the couple does are based on a mutual love and respect, with consideration for each others feelings. Their activities are ones that they either agree on compromise.

Although a couple in love may not always be in agreement, they try to compromise so both partners can do something they love. A relationship based on love is usually long term and allows a couple to work through any problems in the relationship. The respect, admiration and consideration of a loving relationship helps the relationship to grow stronger and last over time.

Lust Relationship

A lustful relationship also affects how a couple interacts, their activities and strength of the relationship. The main difference between a lust and a love relationship is that the loving relationship partners place value on the happiness of their partner, a relationship of lust is all about their own individual desires. The needs of one partner of a lustful relationship comes before the other partner. That by itself can be enough to make their partner feel they are of little value to the relationship.

The lustful relationship is based on selfishness. Where a loving relationship will compromise and find activities that they both enjoy, the lustful relationship activities are based on one partner regardless of the other partner. The lustful relationship is usually short lived. The relationship of lust is based on desire and often times the conquest makes the partner no longer desirable. Lustful relationships are based on selfishness and lack of respect that usually results in a short relationship.

Love and Lust Relationship

Lust and love can exist in a loving relationship. When there is lust in a loving relationship it usually a desire to become closer. This is usually a good thing because a physical relationship is an important part of a loving relationship. Lust can be a good thing in a loving relationship as long as it does not take over the relationship. A lustful relationship can does not include love. Placing their own desires before that of their partner keeps them from forming a loving bond. Since it’s not possible to have a lust relationship with love, but  a little bit of lust in a loving relationship can create a closer relationship for the couple.

Sometimes it is not easy to seperate love from lust, but remember that a loving relationship is one based on selflessness, consideration and admiration while a lustful relationship is based on desire, selfishness and thoughtlessness. These differences will affect the eventual outcome of the relationship. Remember, that lust can be part of a loving relationship and be good for the relationship. It is important to know the differences between love and lust.
